Health problems about computers
The first thing to know is that the risks are not likely to affect you unless you're sitting at the computer pretty much all day, every day!!! Which hopefully isn't much of the population, but there are health problems that people do suffer from because of the amount of time the spent on the computer.
Some examples of health problems from the computer are:
strain in the eyes, you can get this from spending too much time staring at the computer screen and causes you too have blood shot eyes and you can have a stinging pain in your eyes. This can also happen if your sitting too close to the monitor, you should be around 17 inches away from the monitor.Or you could invest on an anti-glare monitor.
Repetitive strain injury (RSI):is an injury of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that may be caused by repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression (pressing against hard surfaces), or sustained or awkward positions.(Wikipedia)
basically you can get this from typing too much on your keyboard and can be very painful, you get a spasm in your hands and becomes painful for you to type. Not only would this effect you from typing on your computer but for writing and texting etc because you are using the same muscles and joints in the movements.
Radiation:Although radiation is a big scare for a lot of people that comes from computers. Computers and the radiation has been linked with miscarriages in women and leukemia in others. In actual fact the radiation given off by a computer isn't an alarming amount at all! you'll get more radiation from a colour screen TV but the radiation even from the colour screen TV isn't an alarming amount to do us any harm.
Obesity crisis fueled by computers:Computer games, the internet and social networking sites may be promoting obesity by changing the way the brain works. In the recent years hobbies of children has changed from the active pastimes such as football and hockey to such examples as face book or the latest phase thats popular on the computer. people don't have to meet up with each other to have a conversation, they can simply go on MSN or a instant chat network of some sort. The computers and internet are becoming more addicting to children for profits.
computer games =
Fantasy violence - 32%
Sport - 29%
General Entertainment - 20%
Human Violence - 17%
Educational Games - 2%..(http://www.softforyou.com/articles_tutorials/computer_video_games.html)
This shows us that computer and the games that they supply for children are in fact discouraging them from having a healthy life, instead they become addicted to theses games full of violence and fantasy story lines. An article in Psychology Digest suggests that it is the interactive nature of computer/video games that helps to desensitize the juvenile attitude to violence. The youngster if fully and totally immersed in the game, and can take actions and bring about a death, with blood spraying everywhere. In contrast, watching T.V or a movie is a passive experience, in which the child can do nothing to alter the outcome.
